My name: Maugdo Vasquez, was born on June 14 1,959 in the capital city of Guatemala. Having been born to peasant parents, seven years he traveled to live Moyuta municipality in the department of Jutiapa. The countryside, horses, cows, cuts coffee and corn tapisca accompanied me in my growth. Since that time I started to feel a deep concern for art. When I shared the teenage gatherings with friends and first romances villagers, it was then, when I started feeling poet and troubadour, but it was the plastic arts that became my own paradise, immersed in a world of lines and colors. In 1.975 was fellow at the National School of Fine Arts, was only 14 years. It was there where I met mentors who marked my profession, teachers: Max Saravia Gual, Manolo Garcia, Victor Vaskestler and many others whom I owe my passion for art. I consider myself self-taught, but got into the Art School of the University of San Carlos de Guatemala, the Bachelor of Visual Arts. I have over 40 solo and group exhibitions. Having won the following awards, Nationals: First place in painting at the Inst.Tec.Voc. Dr. Imrich Fischmann (1980). / Plaque of recognition of the Polytechnic School in its 126 year anniversary (1999). / Honorable Mention in the eighth anniversary of the signing of peace accords in Guatemala (2004). / International: First Instead of drawing the American contest Ensign (1989). Year after year, has been a constant and feverish artistic experiences. I shared my work in Guatemala, Central America, USA and Germany. The theme of my paintings have been children with social tendency. For this reason, my admired friend Franco-versed in the art Guatemala: Haidjidodou Tasso, has placed me as a painter who practiced aesthetics as resistance. The truth is that it has been impossible not to reflect the reality of my country through my paintings. For 22 years now, I am the owner and instructor of drawing and painting in the studio Matiz.
